Building a new home or moving into a new place can leave you feeling overwhelmed. You want your space to feel comfortable, but most importantly, "done.” No matter how much HGTV you have watched, there’s no substitute for a trained interior design professional. We take the time to fully understand your goals before developing a thorough concept, scaled floor plans, and elevations that creatively solve any spatial challenges your home presents. Once we’ve planned for every detail, we manage your project's implementation, aided by our network of talented tradespeople and artisans as needed. You won’t have to worry about a thing as we plan, source, purchase, and coordinate every detail until your project is complete. Whether you are approaching a new build, whole home renovation, or remodel, we can transform your abstract ideas into elegant, cozy, functional spaces for your family.
Our Process
CONSULTATION
The design process always begins with a one-on-one call with Julie. We want to learn about you and your project goals. During our call we will schedule a day/time to meet on site to discuss your project in greater detail. For larger design projects, an in-office meeting will then be scheduled soon after to review together your design estimate and contract.
ONBOARDING
Once you have signed on, we’ll regroup and map out the timeline and approach for your project. You may be asked to complete a design questionnaire and introduce us to any tradespeople working on the project with us. You’ll leave this meeting with clarity on the next steps and excitement for what’s to come!
CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
In this phase, we begin to create and develop your project's story. You will see your concept board of inspirational images and elements that capture the aesthetic direction. You'll also review and approve the initial pricing and proposed floor plan.
DETAILED DESIGN
It’s time to refine! At this point, we’ll be selecting final finishes, fixtures, and furnishings. You’ll get the guidance you need to make confident choices that support your overall vision.
IMPLEMENTATION
In this last step, everything will come together. We'll communicate with vendors and contractors, make purchases, place orders (tile/cabinetry), track updates, and ensure expert execution of every detail. If you want us to accessorize your space, J. Salmon Design Inc. will personally choose and place every last throw pillow and piece of artwork. When we are finished, all that’s left to do is kick off your shoes and relax!
"Julie worked with us to design a complete renovation of the second floor of our home. It was extensive and complicated considering the original construction, and she worked some kind of magic to bring together a beautiful and really practical layout. We were on the fence about hiring a designer, thinking we could tackle it ourselves with feedback from the contractor. Julie is very thorough and looks at the technical issues in a way that we would never have done. She also contributed really creative ideas beyond our abilities. I'm very happy to have worked with her, and I would do it again in future projects."
